Introduction: The issue of school safety is a shared concern. Today, more than ever, it is essential that communities, businesses, parents, and students work together to develop a disciplined environment where learning can take place. Providing safe and drug-free schools is a cornerstone for achieving a world-class education. Most of all, creating safe and orderly schools is about commitment and community will. Accomplishing such a goal requires families, schools, and community leaders to articulate the quality of the educational environment they want to provide for youth and to collaboratively develop the strategies that will produce the desired results. Achieving this significant objective requires school and community leaders to assess where they are, plan where they want to be, implement a a series of comprehensive strategies to bridge the difference, and evaluate their progress.
